How Can We Help You?
Decking materials: What is better, Wood or Composite?
Both have their pros and cons. When purchasing materials to build your deck, wood is less expensive, but can take a lot of maintenance over the years if you want your wood deck to last. Re-sealing your deck every 2-3 years is recommended. Another benefit of natural wood over composite is the feel on bare feet. Composite can stay very hot in the summer time, where natural wood cools down faster.
As mentioned before, composite is a bit more of an initial investment, but it will last much longer than a natural wood deck, with very minimal maintenance - We recommend cleaning every 6 months by applying warm, soapy water on the surface, agitating with a broom or deck brush, and power washing. Another benefit of composite is the consistency of the planks - Natural wood can be perfectly imperfect (and some customers appreciate that), where composite is manufactured to be consistently strait without minor imperfections.
How much does it cost to replace windows?
Obviously, the cost can vary depending the type of windows that you select and the process that will be needed during installation, but we like to give our customers an idea of cost as they are planning to update their home. Depending if you'd like Single Hung, Double Hung, Sliding or fixed, or anything more custom like Bay Windows or a Glass Block section, the variations are endless.
How do I know if I need my siding replaced?
We recommend that you inspect your siding twice per year and check for cracking, warping, and changing in color. You can also run your finger along the bottom edge or siding and check for "feathering" of the siding core. The edge should feel solid - but if it feels like the pages of a book, their has been moisture intrusion. You can also use your finger to check for any soft spots that appear discolored or show signs of rot. When in doubt, contact the Experts and we would be happy to inspect your siding with you.
Siding Selections: Vinyl or LP Smart Siding?
Both of these can be great options for siding your house. Vinyl is the low-maintenance (only requiring occasional cleaning) option and is resistance to moisture rot, while LP Smart siding requires painting and sealing every 3-5 years. Although, with proper maintenance, LP can last longer and be more impact resistant up to 40-50 years. Vinyl siding has a lift span of closer to 20-30 years. As far as initial cost, vinyl siding is the more affordable option, compared to LP Smart Siding.

-
Posts and Footers: The days of using 4x4s as posts and burying them in concrete are over. Proper footing installation, which evolves rebar, raised pillar, and 6x6 post bracket, are vital for a long lasting and sturdy deck. Utilizing 6x6 cedar posts are also highly recommended over treated.

Deck attachment to house or structure: If your deck is attached to the house over a piece of siding, this is a huge red flag and you could be at risk for water intrusion. Your deck should be attached directly to the houses framing with proper flashing to control water.
-
Joist placement: Make sure that your deck as the proper distance between joist as to what type of decking that is installed. To much space between joist can cause warping and instability of decking. Also be sure that your joists are attached with proper joist brackets.

It is highly recommended that stairs are supported with 4, custom-cut, stringers with proper rise and run. it is also a good idea to install risers under each stair to protect the stringers from the elements and increase safety for kids and pets.
